Lens Not Label

More than you think

Lens Not Label

See things differently.

9 September 2026

No, it's not Friday yet, Reader. I'm here a bit earlier this week (scroll down to find out why).

A few months ago, we dove into what it means to be neurodivergent. Since then, I've interviewed many people for our second book, Uncontained. These conversations have helped me reflect more on my own neurodivergence, too. But as my understanding broadens, one question is still bothering me:

If this neurodivergent umbrella is so big, why are we still leaving people out in the rain?

I'd love to hear what you think.

Now onto this week's book updates…

In Uncontained news, we're furiously finishing the draft before heading off to a book-finishing week in Alicante with our paper copy, red pens and laptops.

Next week's book updates will come to you from Great Malvern, and then sunny Spain after that. Can't wait to see how the scenery changes things.

There is a common challenge in these neurodiversity themes of labels, lenses, umbrellas, and other expanding (or limiting) containers. For me, right now, it is forming a question something like this:

How can we be as inclusive as possible without dismissing or minimising differences, diagnoses, and lived experiences?

No one conversation or book can resolve it. But the continued practice that gets us closer, one person at a time, is to ask (and believe the answer).

With burning questions,
Kim, Claire, and Nathan
